I still think it'd be worth a laugh to import enemies as the ball

That's the Rogue Isles version... (c;

While it would take a little work, what if we could spawn an actual ball? The ball would be an "enemy" for game purposes but with infinite health (so it'd also work as a target dummy) and is simply a small sphere. Maybe the basketball or even the soccerball from those animations if it could be pulled out and reused. The ball can't move, no AI, but is subject to knockback. While it'd be a bit strange, with a basic "enclosed court" map and some goal posts you could theoretically have a game of "superhero soccer" with heroes using KB powers to try to get the ball into the other teams goal net.

AE/Mission Architect / Re: Donkyhotay's AE missions
« on: June 28, 2021, 01:18:42 pm »
I specified middle but I do think you're right that it doesn't matter too much on that map.

The portal tech you found simply uses the cower animation. The one you couldn't find is a witch like char that uses the "soul steal" animation on the zombies surrounding her (she's trying to absorb power from them to recharge her magic). It isn't the flashiest of animations but it does have an "energy aura" type effect on it.

AE/Mission Architect / Re: Donkyhotay's AE missions
« on: June 28, 2021, 01:35:13 am »
Thanks for trying it out! The enemies in the 2nd mission being sublevel is intentional. The contact even mentions afterwards that some people feel sorry for them but they would be dangerous if they escaped and able to arm themselves. It's one reason the mission is vig alignment.

Almost all of the Lord Recluse variants are safely hidden in the back of the level while your mission objectives are in the middle. This is done intentionally because the Lord Recluses are meant to be as strong as the primal version. The first two I was able to kill with a well equipped char but the 3rd and 4th I couldn't take out by myself even with with the difficulty bottomed out. The 4th mission Lord Recluse variant (Lord Wreck Loose) I intentionally designed to be as absolutely *unfair* of a fight as the AE would let me. This is why the contact always warns and suggests that you avoid confronting the variant directly.

Which character did you find on mission 4? That will let me know which one you couldn't find. One of the characters is doing an animation, the other is just cowering but in a bright white coat in order to make them both somewhat more visible. Although both are set for "middle", during testing I found that the game would sometimes place one of the rescuees to the far left of the entrance, behind the rocks, and I also would waste time searching all around the boss until I learned to check over there.

Player Help/Guides / Set Enhancement pricing list
« on: June 23, 2021, 02:48:58 pm »
So since the pricing revamp a few weeks ago, the wiki needed to be updated. Researching prices, and consulting with devs, I found that (intentionally or not) all enhancement sets can be put into one of a number of different pricing categories. These categories, and current prices are listed below. Be aware that there are in-game exceptions to these costs but according to Bee these are mistakes that need to be corrected in the game itself, not exceptions intentionally placed. Note: Anything with a cost of 0 means it can not be purchased using that merit type, not that it's free. I'm also using the wiki abbreviations since that is how this all got started.

PU = Purple and PVPIO
Merit Cost = 0
Alignment Merit = 8
Astral Merit = 0
Empyrean Merit = 30

HE = "high event" event IO's with a proc
Merit Cost = 125
Alignment Merit = 2
Astral Merit = 24
Empyrean Merit = 0

LE = "low event" non-proc event IO's
Merit Cost = 75
Alignment Merit = 1
Astral Merit = 12
Empyrean Merit = 0

HA = "high ATO" ATO IO's with a proc
Merit Cost = 125
Alignment Merit = 0
Astral Merit = 70
Empyrean Merit = 0

LA = "low ATO" non-proc ATO IO's
Merit Cost = 75
Alignment Merit = 0
Astral Merit = 55
Empyrean Merit = 0

HA = "high ATO" ATO IO's with a proc
Merit Cost = 125
Alignment Merit = 0
Astral Merit = 70
Empyrean Merit = 0

LA = "low ATO" non-proc ATO IO's
Merit Cost = 75
Alignment Merit = 0
Astral Merit = 55
Empyrean Merit = 0

HR = "high rare" rare IO's with a proc
Merit Cost = 125
Alignment Merit = 2
Astral Merit = 24
Empyrean Merit = 0

LR = "low rare" non-proc rare IO's
Merit Cost = 75
Alignment Merit = 1
Astral Merit = 12
Empyrean Merit = 0

HU = "high uncommon" uncommon IO's with a proc
Merit Cost = 60
Alignment Merit = 0
Astral Merit = 0
Empyrean Merit = 0

LU = "low uncommon" non-proc uncommon IO's
Merit Cost = 30
Alignment Merit = 0
Astral Merit = 0
Empyrean Merit = 0

Edit: Another thing to note, there are no "High Uncommon" recipe's in the game. Recipe's with those prices were mentioned in the patch notes, which is why it's included, but I was unable to find a single one in the merit vendor in-game.

Oops, I was saying AM for Alignment Merit, not Astral. I'm of the opinion that signature summons should be through Alignment Merits and the signature summon you buy is directly related to your alignment. Not just hero/villain but also vig/rog summons as well. Of course that is assuming we ever get vig/rog merits which is something I would support (if done right).

Guardian / Re: Verdict on Guardians?
« on: June 22, 2021, 01:40:24 pm »
They're pretty fun, very much a "jack" AT where they can do a little bit of everything but don't specialize in anything. As I've heard others say, they very much remind me of a VEAT but easier to play since they have normal powersets like other AT's.

General / Re: 2XP or not 2XP? That is the question...
« on: June 22, 2021, 01:33:10 pm »
I absolutely do not want XP increased. When I began "server shopping" I actually tried Sanctuary first and hated how quickly I was leveling there. I obviously ended up trying and loving the old school experience that Rebirth gives. One of the reasons I left Homecoming is because it was so easy getting a blinged out incarnate it was boring. I *love* the challenge I get on rebirth. A blinged out incarnate actually means something here. I do occasionally PL my chars, especially during bonus XP events, but I also enjoy taking a char through all the missions from time to time. Sure XP can be turned off but that's a really annoying way to play.

Also, I'm a firm believer that having different "flavors" of CoX is best for the community. If we increase XP rates to be more in line with what other servers are doing, then we become that much more similar to the other servers. If everyone does that then ultimately there becomes no real difference and we're stuck with one "flavor" of CoX, which is boring. Sure more people might prefer "chocolate" over "vanilla", but that's no reason for us to add chocolate chips simply to become more popular.

I'm very hesitant about having currency types be convertible with each other in games. Do it too much and it can eventually make one obsolete without trying too.

Honestly, this really comes back to us needing to use the forum more. Currently the Rebirth community is centered around the discord. I have no problem with discord, I use it quite often, however it does have limitations, most notably it's tendency to be a "memory hole".

I like these ideas except for the "super summons". I'm of the opinion that signature summons should be tied to AM's to be a future AM sink.

Edit: By AM's I mean Alignment Merits, not Astral Merits.

A good writeup, a few things I want to add onto this. I've found that when dealing with mobs that microburst and breathless are your "bread and butter". Stun and immobilize together are equivalent to a hold and with some decent recharge reduction you can throw both those off once an encounter. Being able to use "an AoE hold" once per encounter is incredible. It makes vacuum completely obsolete as an attack though it's still worth getting (and slotting) in order to hit your pet with it to use it a buff.

I've found wind control very much shines when paired with "debuffing" secondaries such as trick arrow, storm summoning, darkness affinity and poison. I have a wind/trick arrow controller and love using flash arrow and thundergust as an opener which plunges enemies tohit down into the abyss, similar to the thundergust and hurricane combo EDekar mentioned.

I don't think it's a bad idea, I wouldn't mind being able to place "workers" in my SG base, however I also don't see an overwhelming need for it either.

I have a "headcanon" (personal theory) that Praetorian Stefan Richter wasn't killed. Marcus tried to kill him, and *thinks* he killed him, but Stefan barely survived and has been hiding in the shadows of Praetoria all these years. From behind the scenes Stefan has tried to get his revenge against Tyrant. Stefan encouraged/manipulated MacArthur to nuke Tyrant in Korea, then manipulated MacArthur to nuke Shroud City to flush Cole out of hiding. My headcanon even says that Stefan helped Dr. Hamidon with his research hoping to create something able to take down Tyrant, though of course it completely backfired and resulted in the Hamidon, an omnicidal creature *worse* then Tyrant.

"I will not fear debt. Fear of debt is the DPS killer. Fear of debt is the little death that doesn't bring total obliteration. I will embrace my debt. I will permit it to accumulate in me and when it has been paid I will turn to see my path. Where I have gone there will be nothing, only my enemies corpses will remain."
