Hey there,

So as the subject says, this is the build I've put together for my Ice Melee/Willpower Scrapper.  I played this same guy as a Tanker back on Live and he was a ton of fun.

In the course of rebuilding him, I figured I might try and kind of lean into the "trained in the ancient art of the Frozen Path" aspect of his backstory, so I jammed in all the Winter sets I could get my hands on.  The net result has him with stupid high Fire/Cold defense.  On one hand, yeah it feels excessive.  But, I also feel okay with it to a certain extent.  The idea of "attacking me with fire or ice is just plain dumb" kind of works for this guy, so I'm okay with letting that stand.

That said, if anyone has any feedback on ways to tweak him a little, I'm all ears.

Hi Generator, this is an ice-solid build! I'm sure others could show much more proc-fu with this, so I'm going to leave that reply to them ;) . My only suggestions, given your very-thematic build goals and results, is:

  • You're overslotted for ToHit/Accuracy, so you could at least shave the LotG: Def/End/Rech from indomitable Will for some other use.
  • Consider a little Halloween: 4-slot Superior Witchcraft (%-Res, Acc/Debuff, Acc/End/Rech, Debuff/End/Rech) in Warrior's Mark, and swap out Mako's Bite for Superior Vampire's Bite. At the very least, get the Superior Vampire's Bite %Heal proc going somewhere.

I noticed you don't have Incarnate powers listed. I suggest:

  • Alpha: Musculature Radial, for Damage, Endurance Modification, and ToHit Debuff
  • Destiny: Rebirth Core Epiphany, for more MaxHP (which will help you Regen even more), and Heal. Once you have your +15% HP from Accolades, using Rebirth Core will allow you to hit the Scrapper HP cap.
  • Lore: Polar Lights, because they're mega AoE damage and they're very thematic for your Ice.
  • Interface: Paralytic Core Flawless. While you could go the standard Reactive (extra Fire DoT which isn't very icy) or Degenerative (MaxHP Debuff which enemies won't stand long enough to matter), you might benefit more from Paralytic's -Def.
  • Judgement: Cryonic Core Final, because Ice theme!
  • Hybrid: Assault Core, for Damage.

FWIW, I don't tend to play The Proc Game with my IOs/Sets, I'll be happy with just using sets.  Let's see if I can walk through some of your feedback here...

Hmmm, I'm certainly not opposed to moving a lot out of Indomitable Will, because you're right, the difference that makes to my overall build is marginal.  The catch is, I don't really see anyplace that can use the slot better than that!  I'll keep an eye on places I could move one slot.

I hadn't really given Witchcraft too much consideration, just because we're past the Halloween event.  But I've still got some salvage left over; let me see if I can put together a few pieces of that set, because my goodness, that does look nice!  As far as Vampire's Bite, is it just that the proc carries a lot of water?  I'll consider that one if I can afford it after Witchcraft.

Those are all pretty solid choices for Incarnate abilities.
Alpha: Agree 100% but I'd toyed with Agility too, mainly for the EndMod/DefBuff/Rchg (but I don't think Recharge helps WP as much as other chars)
Destiny: Hadn't considered it too deeply but this sounds solid.
Lore: I was likely going here even if it wasn't a good pick but it sounds like it is!  :)  Should I get the two Blasters, or one and Support?  (I personally never feel like those do enough)
Interface: I rarely do Reactive, because it's my experience that eeeeeveryone uses it, and the stack limits are so low that it'd just be wasted.  Paralytic is an interesting choice, I was considering that or Gravitic.
Judgment: Spot on!  :D  Again, any thoughts on Core vs Radial, or does it even matter?
Hybrid: Assault is my go-to so no big surprise there.

The proc is the important one, however you might want to review the rest of the set for its bonuses just in case they offer something. too.

I tend to go core on all Lores and haven't really evaluated radial's support option versus core's all-damage for Scrappers. I do know that Polar Lights Core is my usual Lore because of the AoE damage and that the models are small so that I can actually see around them (contrasted to Banished Pantheon's, Rularuu's, others' frikkin' huge models).

I'm always about the damage on Judgement, so I've never tried the radials.

Mako's Bite set bonuses.

  • 2-slot increases Toxic and Psionic Resistance by 1.5% and increases Mez Resistance by 2.5%.
  • 3-slot increases maximum Health by 1.5%.

Redlynne, I'm almost certain the set bonuses you list for Mako's are the ones for the non-Superior Vampire's Bite. 😁 But if your point is that VB's set bonuses are more worthwhile that MB's then I could probably buy into that.
