Powerset Idea: Illusion Melee (for Melee ATs)

Guess it is time for our melee friends to share some of that Illusion love! The gist of the powerset is to play around with Illusion as a concept offensively, while pairing it with some aggressive movement options.

I suppose this will be part of the Illusion Proliferation series.

Illusion Melee

You are able to fight your foes with a variety of mirages and glamours including illusions and imaginary weapons. Illusion Melee provides excellent crowd control by juggling effects with the powerset mechanic, “Fracture”, powered by the Illusions created using your psionic/energy based attacks.


  • Fracture Illusion: While you have at least one phantasm out, you can Fracture your illusion to grant your next power an extra effect according to the Fracture method used. Furthermore, if you destroy 4 or more illusions, your attacks will also have an extra chance to confuse foes. The available Fractures are are:
    • Implode - Destroy all your illusions, damaging nearby foes, gaining additional damage for each one destroyed.
    • Exhaust - Destroy all your illusions, disorienting your next target(s), gaining additional stun duration for each one destroyed.
    • Diversion - Gain phase shift and destroy all your clones, gaining additional phase shift duration for each one destroyed.

Note: Illusions should do minimal/low damage and be fragile enough that Illusion Melee won't be able to pretend to be a MM.

For Scrappers

Power Level Stats Description
Blurred Thrust 1 Melee, Light DMG(Psionic/Energy), +Special (Summon Illusion), Recharge: Fast Lunge at your foe and strike them with your weapon, summoning an illusion at your location.
Elusive Lunge 1 Melee, Moderate DMG(Psionic/Energy),+Special (Summon Illusion), Leap, Recharge: Moderate Leaps at your target, attacking them. After the initial leap, while leaving an illusion at your original location. You can swap your location with your clone afterwards.
Shattered Thoughts 2 Melee (Cone), High DMG(Psionic/Energy), +Special (Summon Illusion), Recharge: Moderate Spin forward and strike multiple times, leaving an illusion at your starting position.
Egotism 6 Self +DMG, +To Hit, Recharge: Slow Phase Shift while casting for a short duration and gain increased damage and precision in your attacks.
Mirage Blade 8 Ranged, High DMG(Psionic/Energy)t, Recharge: Moderate Throw an illusionary weapon that chains between targets, damaging foes in an area.
Malicious Defense 12 Ranged (Targeted AoE), Foe Taunt, Recharge: Slow Summon an illusion that taunts your target and all nearby targets while blocking attacks for a short time. ~~When it finishes, the illusion explodes, dealing increased damage for each attack blocked.
Imaginary Anguish 18 PBAoE, Superior DMG(Psionic/Energy), +Special(Summon Illusion) Recharge: Slow Release phantasm weapons that seek out the nearest targets after a short delay. Summon one illusion per target hit.
Asymmetric Distortion 26 Melee, Superior DMG(Psionic/Energy), Leap, Foe Placate, Recharge: Very Slow Transform the player character into an illusion for a short time. You and all your illusions teleport to a random location around your target and strike. This attack placates the enemy, and your illusions change focus to the targeted foe (if they weren't attacking him already).
Mirrored Strike 32 PBAoE, High DMG(Psionic/Energy), Recharge: Very Slow Attack one selected target with a flurry of strikes, distorting the space around you, and summoning illusions to similarly attack targets around your original target.

For Stalkers

Assassin's Visage 6 Melee, Special DMG(Psionic/Energy) , Recharge: Slow A signature Stalker attack. This attack does superior psionic/energy damage on its own as a frontal attack and cannot be interrupted. However, if it is executed while you are Hidden, this attack will do tremendous damage, as you waylay your unsuspecting foe. This attack may be interrupted if you move or are attacked while executing this power and are hidden. Using this power while not hidden as a chance to critically hit equal to 33.3% time the number of stacks of Assassin's Focus. Using Assassin's Visage when not hidden will remove all stacks of Assassin's Focus regardless if you critically hit or not.
Egotism 8 Self +DMG, +To Hit, Recharge: Slow Phase Shift while casting for a short duration and gain increased damage and precision in your attacks.
Self-Deception 12 Ranged, Foe Placate, Self Stealth/Hide , Recharge: Long Transform the player character into an illusion. You and all your illusions teleport to a random location around your target. This attack placates the enemy, and your illusions change focus to the targeted foe (if they weren't attacking him already).

To be fair, I had no idea on what type of damage to use for this set. I went Psionic/Energy mimicking the Controller’s Illusion, while removing the Illusionary damage that could make a Melee AT too powerful.

Technically every power, except Asymmetric Distortion/Self-Deception should be doable mixing up existing animations. Even Asymmetric Distortion/Self-Deception could probably done while messing around with teleport/leap powers and changing the target type. Any ideas on how to improve this?
